Florries Favorites: A Florence Peto Collection

Designed by Froncie Quinn
endorsed by Shelburne Museum

Froncie's third collection of reproduction prints was inspired by fabrics found in the quilts of Florence Peto, a New Jersey woman who was instrumental in acquiring and documenting the Shelburne Museum's quilt collection in the 1950's. Florrie was a well-known quilt historian and author and an accomplished quiltmaker who sewed with fabrics from her collection of 18th and 19th century prints. These antique florals and a paisley stripe were derived from fabrics in her own quilts. The pretty cream texture is perfect for use in traditional quilts patterns like stars, flying geese, and baskets, and makes a wonderful background for broderie perse appliqué and hand or machine appliquéd floral quilts.
